C. Glenn Dunaway

Glenn is one of the most experienced timberland lawyers in the world, with more than 30 years of focused practice in the area.

He began his career with a boutique tax firm in Atlanta that served as counsel to the first institutional timberland investment management organization virtually from its inception. Glenn later served as a partner in the Tax Group of the Atlanta office of Jones Day, where his practice also included extensive cross-border real estate investment transactions and private equity fund representation in addition to timberland investment transactions. 

In 1994, Glenn formed Mazursky & Dunaway, LLP, at which timberland became the dominant focus of his practice, representing investment managers and institutional investors seeking to compose and operate global timberland portfolios with an emphasis on ex-US investment transactions.

In 2009, Glenn’s working group moved to Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP in Atlanta.  He has worked extensively in most of the major timber-producing markets of the world, including Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe (including the Baltics) and South Africa, and he has a deep network of in-country relationships as well as good working knowledge of the local tax and legal systems. 

In 2022, Glenn joined Polsinelli Law Firm in Atlanta, continuing to focus on international and domestic timberland investment. Glenn and his colleagues also advise clients on the formation and operation of both collective and separate account investment vehicles, including structuring and tax advice, and Glenn has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America for his tax work.

Glenn’s deep connections in worldwide timberland markets can often provide access to transaction opportunities in the very early stages of development, and his experience with country risk assessment in the major emerging timberland markets is unique.
